The short answer: open Zoom's Settings › Audio and use the Output volume slider under Speaker. It changes Zoom only, so check your Mac's volume too.
Zoom's own volume
- Open Zoom and go to Settings › Audio.
- Under Speaker, choose the right output and click Test speaker.
- Drag Output volume while the test plays.
In a meeting, the arrow next to the microphone button opens the same audio settings.
If Zoom is too quiet
- Check both volumes. Zoom's Output volume and your Mac's volume are separate, and the quieter one wins.
- Check the speaker. Zoom may be playing through a display or headphones you're not using.
- Close other calls. Another call in a browser tab can hold on to your audio and make Zoom quieter.
With Sordina
Sordina puts a slider for every app that's playing in your Mac's menu bar, so you can set Zoom against everything else in one place. That part is free.
- Click the Sordina icon in the menu bar.
- Drag Zoom's slider, or click its mute button.
- Everything else stays where it was. Zoom keeps its level until you change it.
Music down during meetings
Zoom only controls its own sound, so your music plays on at full volume. Sordina Pro's Calls turns other apps down while any app uses the microphone, and brings them back after. See how to turn down music automatically during calls.
Common questions
Does Zoom's volume change other apps?
No. Output volume only changes what you hear from the meeting.
Can I make Zoom louder than 100%?
Not in Zoom. Sordina Pro's Louder can take one app past 100%, with a limiter. See how to make a Mac louder than its maximum volume.
