In one line

Sordina gives every app on your Mac its own volume, right from the menu bar.

In a paragraph

Sordina is a menu bar app for macOS that gives every app its own volume slider and mute, so music, videos, games and calls can each sit at their own level. It's free for the sliders. Sordina Pro, €7.99 once, turns other apps down automatically during calls, goes louder than the Mac's maximum with a limiter, adds an EQ for every app or one, remembers settings for each output, lowers the volume gently after a break, and adds keyboard shortcuts and a mixer layout. It uses macOS's own audio taps, so it installs no audio driver, and apps you don't touch play straight through.

The name

A sordina is the mute a violinist clips onto the bridge, so one section plays softer while the orchestra plays on. Sordina does that for the apps on your Mac.
